Meet the First-Timers On Our Charts This Week
Two of Lil Wayne’s children have now debuted on Billboard’s charts.
Across Billboard’s 200-plus charts this week (dated June 21, 2025), a diverse group of artists debut for the very first time. It’s a list that includes Lil Wayne’s son, a rising New Orleans rapper and Wayne protégé and a composer/artist who enters with an ambient collaboration with Brian Eno.
Take a look at the eclectic bunch below.
Kameron Carter
Lil Wayne’s 15-year-old son, Kameron Carter, makes his Billboard chart debut this week thanks to his guest appearance on “Rari” — a cut from Lil Wayne’s new album Tha Carter VI. The song debuts at No. 47 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart with 2.9 million official U.S. streams earned in its first week of release (June 6-12), according to Luminate.
Kameron follows in the footsteps of his sister, Reginae, who appeared on the charts in 2018 as a featured artist on Lil Wayne’s “Famous,” from Tha Carter V. That track reached No. 36 on the Billboard Hot 100 and also peaked at No. 22 on Hot Rap Songs and No. 25 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. Lil Wayne has two other children who haven’t yet charted on Billboard: Dwayne III (born 2008) and Neal (born 2009).
Neal’s mother is Lil Wayne’s ex-fiancée, R&B singer Nivea, who has a notable chart history of her own. She’s earned six entries on the Hot 100, including the top 10 hit “Don’t Mess With My Man” featuring Brian and Brandon Casey (No. 8 peak in 2002), and landed two albums on the Billboard 200.
Tha Carter VI debuts at No. 1 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 108,000 equivalent album units. Seven songs from the LP also enter the Hot 100, bringing Lil Wayne’s career total to 194 entries. That’s the fifth-most in history after Drake (358), Taylor Swift (264), Future (223) and the Glee Cast (207).
Kameron Carter isn’t the only artist to chart for the first time this week. Here’s a look at some other First-Timers across other charts below.
Jay Jones
Lil Wayne helps another artist score his first Billboard chart entry: Jay Jones. The rising New Orleans rapper debuts for the first time thanks to his featured spot on Lil Wayne’s “Hip-Hop,” also with BigXthaPlug. The track debuts at No. 36 on the Hot 100, No. 5 on Hot Rap Songs and No. 8 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs with 11.2 million streams and 1,000 downloads sold.
Jones and Lil Wayne’s musical partnership stretches back nearly a decade. They first teamed up in July 2017 on “Mula Gang,” a track from Lil Wayne’s EP In Tune We Trust that also features HoodyBaby and Euro. Later that year, Lil Wayne returned the favor when he provided a guest verse on Jones’ “Go Crazy” from his LP 2000 Hollygrove. Their partnership continued on two tracks from Lil Wayne’s Dedication 6: Reloaded in 2018: “Go Brazy” (a sequel to “Go Crazy”) and “Abracadabra.” In 2020, they reunited again on Lil Wayne’s “Thug Life,” featuring Gudda Gudda and Jones.
Jones grew up in the same New Orleans neighborhood as Lil Wayne, Hollygrove, and signed to Young Money in 2017.
Beatie Wolfe
The British artist and composer debuts for the first time thanks to her new collaborative project with Brian Eno. On June 6, the duo released two ambient albums: Luminal and Lateral (both via Opal/Verve Records). The latter debuts at No. 4 on the New Age Albums chart with 1,000 units in its first week.
In a press release, the pair describes Luminal as “dream music” and Lateral as “space music.” The project stems from a 2022 SXSW panel presented by Eno and Wolfe called Art and Climate, which explored how art can play a role in response to the climate emergency — a conversation that ultimately sparked a musical partnership. —Xander Zellner
